Book review:
Cook dinner for your dog
Real food for dogs: 50 vet-approved recipes to please the canine gastronome (paperback)
By Arden Moore and Anne Davis Price: $US12.95
Personally I make most of my dogs' meals and know I am giving them real food instead of preserved, cooked-out junk. So I was really interested in this book that gives 50 recipes, all vet-approved, for meals and treats for dogs.
The recipes that are nutritionally balanced and some of the recipes can be changed slightly to be used as a human meal also.
Real food for dogs is written by Arden Moore - the first non-veterinarian to write the pet column for Prevention magazine. This alone is a recommendation. She is the author of 13 books on cats and dogs, including Real food for dogs and Healthy dog: the ultimate fitness guide for you and your dog. She is a regular contributor to pet magazines and has appeared on CNN News, Smart Solutions and Steve Dale's pet world radio show.
Anne Davis is the photographer-illustrator and from start to finish you can appreciate her delightful, often funny, illustrations to compliment the recipes. She is an award-winning artist producing greeting cards, and has a special relationship with animals which inspires her art. Her commissioned animal portraits appear in many private collections.
I recommend this one to anyone who has an interest in giving their dog a good healthy meal and some home-cooked treats for later. - EP
