Fish recipes your dog will love

Wherever you live your dog will benefit from good wholesome natural foods.

Tuna patties

1 large tin tuna
1 dessertspoon chopped parsley
2 eggs
2 boiled potatoes
Sea salt and ground black pepper
1 cup rye or rice bread crumbs

Method
Combine all ingredients except the breadcrumbs. Shape spoonfuls of mixture into patties and roll in breadcrumbs on each side. Cook in greased dish or under a griller for 10 minutes on each side. Serve when cooled.

Fish mousse

1 kg cooked fish
1/2 cup chopped salad greens
1/2 cup lemon juice
1/2 cup plain mayonnaise (no onion or garlic)
1/2 cup finely chopped celery
2 level tablespoon gelatine
250g thick yoghurt

Method
Flake fish then prepare celery and salad greens. Soak gelatine in 1/2 cup of water (stand in hot water to dissolve). Add lemon juice to mayonnaise. Combine all ingredients, put in a basin and set in the refrigerator. To release the mousse, slightly heat the basin with a hot cloth (or even warm hands).

Fish pie supreme

2 tablespoon coconut oil
2 teaspoon chopped parsley
2 tablespoons flour
1kg cooked boneless fish
11/2 cup fish stock or rice milk
2 cups whole grain breadcrumbs
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
Potatoes (cooked and mashed)
Pinch black pepper
2 eggs
Squeeze lemon juice

Method
Melt oil in saucepan, add flour, and stir till smooth. Cook 1 minute, add stock or milk and stir until boiling. Add salt, pepper, lemon juice, parsley, and flaked fish. Mix well and pour sufficient of the mixture into a greased pie dish to cover the bottom well. Sprinkle with breadcrumbs and dot with small pieces of butter. Cover with a layer of mashed potatoes and brush with beaten egg. Repeat layers until all the mixture is used up. Bake in a moderate oven till brown.

Baked bream

500g white sauce
1kg cooked flaked bream
1/2 cup chopped prawns or shrimp
Black pepper
4 tablespoons whole grain breadcrumbs
Tbsp coconut oil

Method
Make white sauce in usual way, using stock and milk. Flake the fish and add to prawns and sauce. Season with pepper only. Pour into a fireproof dish. Sprinkle with breadcrumbs and dot with coconut oil. Brown in oven or grill.
